ABU DHABI -- In what is nearly a made-for-TV pairing, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy struggled to keep people from switching the channel on Thursday night.
McIlroy (3-over 75) and Woods (even-par 72) knocked the ball all over the course and looked nothing like the Nos. 1 and 2 players that they are.
But, Friday brings a new opportunity to shine. McIlroy will need to make a nice run to make the cut, as the Northern Irishman is eight strokes off the pace. Woods is five shots back of co-leaders Justin Rose and Jamie Donaldson.
